New petzl nomic With weight-assisted balance and exceptional swing, the Petzl Nomic ice tool has a modular construction and delivers excellent penetration in any type of ice, even the very hardest. Mar 8, 2019 · The new ergonomic, unlike the ergo, has the same shaft and head as the nomic. It will add some stability on hard ice and can be used to give the pommel some stability as a cane on easy terrain. Its PUR’ICE pick allows efficient placement in a variety of types of ice. Better yet just use the top of the Astro or Dry pick while reversing the tool in that same easy terrain. The shape and double handle offer multiple grip modes, as well as stable hand switching. It is the new pommel that has a serrated stainless blade. The NOMIC ice axe sets the standard for ice climbing. The difference this time, however, is the handle in the ergonomic is much deeper, allowing for an aggressive pick angle for drytooling but also maintaining a good shaft geometry for steep ice. Perfectly balanced and equipped with weights, it provides an exceptional swing. The lower handle grip is overmolded with high friction rubber, but flatter on both sides and front for better indexing and grip. The QUARK ($340) remains Petzl’s most versatile tool for both technical alpine mountaineering and ice climbing. Dec 13, 2018 · Though the swing is the same on the Nomic, the redesigned hydro-formed shaft (it’s shaped with water pressure) is now narrower in the middle and easier to grip. Petzl also addressed an issue, a rattle that some users experienced in the head of the tools when using them in bitter-cold conditions.
